Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of lactose intolerance (lactose intolerance).
Family history
- Are there frequent diseases of the gastrointestinal tract in your family?
Social history
Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).
- Have you noticed symptoms such as increased flatulence and diarrhea?
- Do you suffer from cramping abdominal pain?
- When do these symptoms occur? In connection with the intake of medicines, food, etc.?
- Do you feel chronically tired?
- Do you suffer from headaches and aching limbs?
- Do you suffer from concentration and sleep disorders?
Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.
- Do you eat a balanced diet?
- Do you eat/drink a lot of dairy products?
Self history incl. medication history.
- Pre-existing conditions (intestinal diseases, e.g. Crohn’s disease, rotavirus infection, etc.).
- Operations
- Radiatio (radiotherapy)
- Allergies
- Drug history (chemotherapy)
Note!When looking for the trigger of food intolerance, keeping a food diary is helpful. Causative foods include: Dairy products, consensus milk, cheese, milk-containingfoods and drinks, and hidden sources of lactose (eg, ready meals, instant cappuchino, chocolate).
