Laser Acupuncture

Synonyms

“Laser” is an abbreviation and stands for: “Light Amplification Stimulated Emission of Radiation”

Introduction

A patient who is afraid of a treatment method has less chance of recovery than a patient who trusts a method one hundred percent. This is why laser acupuncture is particularly suitable for patients who are convinced of acupuncture but have an inexplicable fear of needles and the pain that seems to be associated with them. However, a large field of application is also evident in the treatment of children and infants, as laser acupuncture is absolutely painless and free of side effects.

Definition

Laser is light bundled in a certain wavelength, which makes it a very high-energy light source. In medicine and alternative therapy, especially soft lasers are used, which have an output of 5-500mW. Laser acupuncture can be used to treat all diseases that are due to a disturbed (not destroyed!)

body function. The laser light has a particularly blood circulation-promoting, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, decongestant, pain-relieving effect and it stabilizes cell membranes. This results in the following areas of application: Furthermore, laser treatment is successfully applied in sports medicine and orthopedics.

For example, in acute knee injuries to the cartilage or meniscus, bruises and haematomas. It was also found that implants, such as hip joints or pacemakers, are better accepted by the organism.

In laser therapy, the light partially transfers its energy to the irradiated cells.

The laser beam penetrates the subcutaneous layers and, according to its users, has a beneficial “biostimulation” effect on the metabolism in the connective tissue. In other words, it should influence the exchange of biological information between the cells, stimulate the formation of proteins in the cells and thus activate collagen synthesis (formation of new connective tissue) and the formation of new blood vessels. Depending on the results of the examination, radiation is applied with a certain frequency or different frequencies.

A healing or regulatory stimulus is set and the immune system is positively influenced. However, there is no proof of this. In traditional Chinese medicine, the laser is now being used with enthusiasm.

As already mentioned, even our youngest children can be treated with this method. Even if there is no skin damage caused by the therapy, protective glasses for the eyes are mandatory. With the soft laser, the specific acupuncture points are irradiated and thus the flow of Qi in the meridians of the body is promoted and made to flow again.

As in traditional acupuncture, it is assumed that an imbalance in the body’s energy pathways leads to illness. If acupuncture helps the body to find its “center” again, the complaints disappear. Depending on the results of the examination, the intended points are treated with laser light until an energy balance is established.

As with needle acupuncture, the treatment has to be repeated several times, depending on the extent of the findings, until the body is permanently stabilized and regained its balance. The laser application can also be combined very well with a superficial needle treatment. In this case, the effect of the needles can – if necessary – be enhanced by additional laser therapy.

However, a successful healing is not possible without the treatment of so-called trouble spots. At first glance, foci of interference seem to have nothing to do with the actual disease process. However, they can have such a negative effect on the body that the body’s own defenses are weakened. Before the beginning of each treatment, an examination for interference foci is carried out, which can and must also be eliminated in part by stimulating reflex points with the laser.
