Laughter is Healthy

Incredible but true, the many influences that a laugh coming from the heart has on the body:

  • The body’s immune system is activated, the metabolism is stimulated
  • The blood flow to the heart and lungs improved
  • The stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol reduced
  • The blood pressure as well as the blood sugar level lowered
  • The muscles relaxed
  • The blood circulation intensified
  • The sensation of pain reduced
  • The concentration promoted
  • Fears are reduced.

And of course, this also increases the good mood. Laughter is an absolute stress killer, because the resulting endorphins are successful counterparts of the disease-causing stress hormones. So-called “laughter seminars” are therefore becoming increasingly popular, for example also for entrepreneurs and their teams. They use the seminars to break up ingrained thought patterns of their employees.

By putting the intellect in the background during laughter and activating the right hemisphere of the brain, mental tensions are released and minds become free again for creative thoughts and solutions.

The World Laughter Movement

By the way, the father of the world laughter movement is the Indian Dr. Madan Kataria. The healing power of laughter is cultivated here on the basis of ancient yoga knowledge. In the meantime, more than 300,000 people worldwide meet for this special form of meditation, in which the groundless laughter of childhood is made accessible again through special exercises. In Germany alone, there are 45 laughter clubs.
