Levitra®

The active ingredient of Levitra® film-coated tablets is vardenafil.

Fields of application

Levitra® is used for male erectile dysfunction (ED). This occurs when there are difficulties in achieving or maintaining an erection. To achieve the effect of Levitra®, it may be necessary for the patient to be sexually stimulated. Women should not take the drug Levitra®.

Contraindications

The drug Levitra® should not be taken if there is hypersensitivity (allergy) to the active ingredient vardenafil or other components of the drug. The hypersensitivity reaction may manifest itself as a skin rash, itching, swelling of the face or lips, and shortness of breath. Other contraindications for taking Levitra® are concomitant use of drugs for heart disease, serious heart or liver disease, dialysis, recent stroke or heart attack, low blood pressure, rare hereditary eye diseases (retinitis pigmentosa), use of ritonavir or indinavir (for HIV therapy), use of ketoconazole/itraconazole (for fungal infections).

Instructions for use

Levitra® should be taken exactly as directed by the treating physician. Any independent reduction or increase of the dose must be strictly avoided without consulting the doctor! The tablet should be taken approximately 25 to 60 minutes before sexual intercourse.

After taking the tablet an erection may occur within 25 minutes to 4-5 hours during sexual stimulation. Drinking grapefruit juice should be avoided when taking Levitra®, as this can affect the effect of the drug. If alcohol is drunk at the same time as taking the drug, the erectile dysfunction can be aggravated. The drug Levitra® must not be taken more than once in 24 hours. One tablet of Levitra® should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, ideally not after a hard-to-digest or high-fat meal, as the effect can then be greatly delayed.
