Definition/Introduction

Liposuction is one of the most frequently performed surgical operations concerning the aesthetics of the body. In the meantime, it can be used to shape specific body regions. The background of such an operation can be the elimination of the consequences of an illness (e.g. lipedema, which is often referred to as “riding pants” in colloquial language) or simply the achievement of a desired figure.

The fat pads, which could not be removed even by sport or diet, are usually removed permanently. Of the approximately 270,000 cosmetic operations that are performed in Germany every year, liposuction accounts for approximately 33,000 of them. Why liposuction is performed can have many reasons.

In addition to aesthetic considerations, health problems can also play a role: Lipedema Pseudogynecomastia

Patients who decide to undergo liposuction for beautification are carefully examined in advance. It is important to know if there are any previous illnesses that could lead to complications during the operation. In addition, the areas where the fat is to be suctioned off are examined more closely. The volume of fat to be removed is also determined in advance.

Treatment of lipedema by liposuction Lipedema can be diagnosed by the external appearance and by palpation of the affected areas of the body. In addition, there are several clinical findings that point to this disease: Lipedemas are also divided into stages: Treatment of pseudogynecomastia/gynecomastia with liposuction These two conditions, both of which manifest themselves by the enlargement of one or both breasts, occur only in men. Pseudogynecomastia and gynecomastia differ primarily in one characteristic: It is called pseudogynecomastia if no mammary gland tissue has increased.

This means that the cause of enlargement here is, for example, the storage of fat due to obesity. On the other hand, one speaks of a gynecomastia if the breast tissue is increased. The diagnosis, which is made by palpation of the breast, determines the further treatment method.
