Long Thigh Puller

Latin: M. adductor longus

  • To the musculature overview

The long femoral adductor follows the musculus pectineus in the superficial layer of the femoral adductor. Its shape resembles a long triangular plate. Its muscle fibers spread out fan-shaped downwards, outwards. Other adductors of the thigh:

  • Comb muscle (M. pectineus)
  • Short femoral adductor (M. adductor brevis)
  • Large thigh extractor (M. adductor magnus)
  • Slender muscle (M. gracilis)

Approach, Origin, Innervation

Embouchure: Bony reinforcement of the back of the thigh bone (Linea aspera) Origin: Below the pubic tuberosity (Ramus superior ossis pubis) Innervation: N. ObturatoriusThe long thigh extensor (Musculus adductor longus) is trained in strength training by the following exercise:

  • Adductor machine

The following stretching exercises apply to these muscles: There are two ways to stretch the inner side of the thigh. The athlete stands in double shoulder width, foot tips point forward. The body weight is shifted to one side, so that the thigh of the side to be stretched is stretched approximately through.

The upper body should be kept as upright as possible. The second variation is done while sitting. The soles of both feet touch each other, while the knee joints are moved towards the floor.

Function

The function of the long thigh puller is adduction (lateral approach to the body) in the hip joint. It also supports the crested muscle during external rotation.
