Lower body fat percentage

Introduction

The amount of body fat depends on a number of factors such as age, gender and physique. A body fat percentage defined as normal is in the range of 8-20% for young and healthy men up to an age of about 40 years. Women on the other hand have a higher percentage of body fat. Young and healthy women up to 40 years of age have a body fat percentage of 21-30%, which is considered normal. If you have reached your desired weight, it is important to maintain your behavioral change so that the well-known “yo-yo effect” does not set in.

Body fat percentage

Compared to men, women have a higher percentage of body fat, usually between 21 and 30%. For men, this is significantly lower at 8-20%. Women and men differ in the composition of the tissue parts of their bodies.

Among other things, this results in a different total calorie consumption. On average, women consume about 5-10% fewer calories than men. There are also gender-specific differences in terms of the motivation to lose weight.

A woman loses weight of her own accord much more often than a man, because she has a different body image and more often feels “too fat”. As a rule, women also deal with their diet and cooking more often than men, which gives them an advantage in losing weight. In principle, however, the differences are smaller than one might expect.

Women and men lose weight using the same procedures. In order to permanently reduce the body fat percentage, women and men should equally apply a combination of behavioral, exercise and nutritional therapy. Men have a significantly lower body fat percentage than women.

For a healthy man up to the age of 40 years, this percentage is about 8 to 20%. Partly due to this difference, the calorie consumption of men is on average 5 to 10% higher than that of women. Men also differ from women in terms of motivation.

A man often finds it less disturbing than a woman if he is a little overweight. The motivation to lose weight usually only increases when the man experiences disadvantages due to his weight. If, for example, a doctor asks him about the dangers of obesity, the man will also start to reduce his weight.

In addition, there is a gender-specific difference when it comes to nutrition and cooking. Traditionally, the female gender has been more involved in these areas. In principle, the gender differences in terms of weight loss are rather small and therefore both the woman and the man lose weight using the same procedures.
