Structure and properties

Lysozyme is an endogenous mucopolysaccharidase (protein, enzyme) found in saliva and elsewhere. It is composed of 129 amino acids.

Effects

Lysozyme (ATC A01AB11) has bactericidal, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Indications

Acute inflammatory conditions of the mouth and throat, for example, sore throat.
