Malaesthesias (Paresthesias): Diagnostic Tests

Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics, and obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • X-rays of the cervical spine (cervical spine X-ray).
  • Computed tomography of the skull (cranial CT, cranial CT or cCT/the spine (spinal CT) -for suspected neurological cause such as apoplexy (stroke), disc herniation (herniated disc), etc.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging of the skull (cranial MRI, cranial MRI or cMRI)/spine (spinal MRI) -for suspected neurological cause such as apoplexy, disc prolapse, etc.
  • Angiography (imaging of blood vessels by contrast medium in an X-ray examination) of the carotids (carotid arteries)/cerebral vessels.
  • Myelography (radiological contrast imaging of the spine and spinal canal/vertebral canal).
  • Nerve conduction velocity
