Male Libido Disorders

As libido disorders (synonyms: Sex drive disorder; libido disorders – male; ICD-10-GM F52.0: deficiency or loss of sexual desire) are disorders of sex drive. In most cases, this is a libido deficiency. In many cases, this occurs together with erectile dysfunction (ED; erectile dysfunction).

In addition to libido deficiency, there is also increased libido, which usually occurs in paraphilias (sexuality deviating from the norm). This includes, above all, exhibitionism and fetishism.

The prevalence (disease frequency) is 2-3% of all men.

Course and prognosis: The prognosis depends largely on the cause of the libido disorder. In the case of organic diseases or drug side effects, normal desire is often restored after treatment or discontinuation of the drug. Treatment becomes more difficult and, above all, more time-consuming if psychological causes underlie the libido disorder.
