Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma: Complications

The following are the major diseases or complications that may be contributed to by malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH):

Neoplasms – Tumor Diseases (C00-D48).

  • Metastasis (daughter tumors) – especially pulmonary (“to the lungs”; 90%), rarely osseous (“to the bones“; 8%) or hepatogenous (“to the liver“; 1%).

Further

Prognostic factors

Prognostically unfavorable parameters are:

  • Tumor size > 5 cm
  • Higher age of the patient
  • Proximal (towards the center of the body/near the trunk) and deep localization of the tumor.
  • High histological grade – a distinction is made between low-, intermediate- and high-grade.
  • Metastasis (formation of daughter tumors).
