Medical history (history of illness) is an important component in the diagnosis of mastitis (inflammation of the mammary glands).

Current anamnesis/systemic anamnesis (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • How long has the chest pain been present?
    • Has there been any change in the pain?
    • Become stronger?*
  • Did the pain come on suddenly?
  • Where exactly is the pain localized? Does the pain radiate? Does the pain occur bilaterally?
  • When does the pain occur?
  • Is the breast reddened, overheated?
  • Do you have a fever?
  • Have you noticed any lymph node enlargement?
  • Are you currently breastfeeding or have you recently breastfed?
  • Have you had any breast injuries?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you make sure you have enough hygiene when breastfeeding?

Self anamnesis incl. medication anamnesis

  • Pre-existing conditions (gynecological diseases).
