Laboratory parameters of the 1st order – obligatory laboratory tests.
- Histologic (fine tissue) examination is indicated, including:
- In mammary sonography (ultrasound examination of the breast; breast ultrasound) – in the case of unclear focal findings.
- In mammography (X-ray examination of the breast) – in the case of microcalcifications.
- In the case of galactorrhea (abnormal breast milk discharge) is a cytological examination (cytology) of the secretion is required!
Laboratory parameters 2nd order – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and the obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Pregnancy test (quantitative HCG).
- If breast carcinoma is suspected (see under laboratory diagnostics in breast carcinoma).
