May I drink alcohol?

While taking Novalgin®-drops it is also recommended in the package insert to abstain from taking alcohol, as interactions cannot be excluded. Furthermore the alcohol can influence and change the effect of the drug. Therefore it is recommended to abstain from alcohol during a therapy with Novalgin®. Furthermore, Novalgin® should not be taken with an alcoholic beverage and the consumption of alcohol should be postponed: it is not recommended to consume alcohol on the same day.

Do Novalgin® drops contain alcohol?

Novalgin® is available in different forms. Besides tablets Novalgin® is also available as suppositories, infusion solution, effervescent tablets or as drops. These Novalgin® drops are clear and show a yellowish color.

Besides the active ingredient Metamizol, the drops contain the following substances: purified water, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium monohydrogen phosphate, saccharin-sodium 2 H2O and half and half bitter essence. These ingredients are not other medicines and have no other medicinal effects in the body. The Novalgin® drops therefore do not contain alcohol!
