Medical Qigong

Qigong is a combined movement and breathing form that was practiced by Chinese monks thousands of years ago. It is one of the five pillars of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).The word Qigong is composed of the Qi – life energy – and Gong – exercise.

Qigong exercises are divided into three levels

  • Basic level – healing of diseases.
  • Intermediate level – well-being and balance.
  • Upper level – Spiritual perfection

Medical Qigong is limited to the exercises of the basic level. This means, the goal of medical qigong is the specific treatment of diseases and ailments.

Indications (areas of application)

  • Allergies
  • Bronchial asthma
  • Bronchitis
  • Depression
  • Diseases of the musculoskeletal system
  • Dysfunction of the internal organs
  • Skin problems
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Immune deficiencies
  • Insomnia (sleep disorders)

Qigong helps to alleviate illness or disease by rebalancing the qi. Only when the Qi flows, the person is healthy.Through movement and breathing, targeted functional circuits are strengthened, which leads to an improvement of the affected organ or body region.Diseases result from disturbances of the Qi by:

  • Climatic influences
  • Emotional influences
  • Unfavorable diet
  • External injuries

Any condition outside the balance of body and mind is considered a disorder. Both a deficiency and an excess lead to disease.Qigong is also based on the daily rhythm of the organs. Each organ is assigned a time of day. The exercises have a particularly intense effect when they are both targeted at the organ and performed at the time of day assigned to the organ.Simple exercises can be learned within a short time. Regular practice leads to relief and healing. Those who are healthy can use qigong to strengthen their defenses and bring body and mind into harmony. Qi is kept flowing and the development of diseases is prevented.
