Medical Training Therapy (MTT)

The medical training therapy is a specific physical training on equipment for the treatment of diseases and problems of the musculoskeletal system. The medical training therapy should help to support rehabilitation processes and to stabilize the joints to such an extent that the resilience of the body meets the requirements. It must be carried out under medical supervision or by specifically trained personnel (e.g. physiotherapists with appropriate training).

In order to be prescribed this, there must be an indication for medical training therapy, i.e. the attending physician must determine an illness or limitation that requires treatment. The following is an outline of possible indications for MTT:

  • MTT after a rotator cuff rupture
  • MTT after shoulder instability surgery
  • MTT after a shoulder impingement/calcified shoulder – OP
  • MTT after a shoulder TEP -OP
  • MTT after a hip TEP – OP
  • MTT after hip impingement surgery
  • MTT after meniscus surgery
  • MTT after a knee TEP – OP
  • MTT after after VKB OP incl. meniscus suture

The medical training therapy is an active form of therapy with the goal of making damaged structures in the body resilient again. A special exercise program is created by the medical staff according to the individual patient’s findings. If possible, this exercise program should be able to be carried out independently by the patient after some time.

In medical training therapy, knowledge from training and movement theory as well as pathology is combined. The training consists mainly of stabilization, mobilization, strength and coordination exercises and is divided into 4 phases: Mobilisation phase Stabilisation phase Functional phase Load phase In summary, medical training therapy is a very useful supplement after serious injuries to the musculoskeletal system, rehabilitation processes or chronic diseases. It is performed either in individual or group therapy with a maximum of 3 persons.
