When traveling to the West, the day is longer, here more insulin must be given according to the time difference: for example, time difference of 6 hrs corresponds to 6/24 (25%) more insulin, when traveling to the East, this applies vice versa.

Also useful in hand luggage: a spare pen, a spare blood glucose meter and a hypoglycemia emergency kit. The special ration of dextrose in the bag should be a matter of course.

Cosmetics and non-prescription items

Duty-free items purchased at airports in the EU or on board an aircraft of an EU airline may be carried in a sealed bag, provided a receipt of purchase from the same day is available. Sealing of the items is done by the point of sale.
