In Dr. Schüssler’s teaching, people who suffer from a deficiency of a certain salt exhibit certain behavioral patterns as well as certain external characteristics and physical symptoms. If one takes all these aspects together, one speaks of the so-called drug picture. Each Schüssler salt has its own drug picture, which can be recognized by an experienced alternative practitioner and assigned to the appropriate salt.

With potassium arsenicosum, these behaviours include excessive sense of duty, which can lead to sacrifice in the profession, as well as the almost convulsive clinging to old structures. A feeling of inner restlessness or disruption may also indicate a lack of potassium arsenicosum. The external signs may be pale, scaly skin, an emaciated appearance, sunken cheeks and protruding eyes.

Symptoms that may be attributed to a deficiency of potassium arsenicosum are inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes. It also has the reputation of regulating and stabilizing the hormonal balance and hormonal control cycles. It can therefore be used, for example, in women who have a previously unfulfilled desire for children. The use of Potassium arsenicosum can also be helpful for women during the menopause.

Mode of action of the 13th Schüssler Salt

The 13th Schüssler salt consists of potassium and arsenic. Potassium is found in relatively high concentrations throughout the body, whereas arsenic is toxic even in small doses. Nevertheless, it is certain that arsenic fulfills a task in the human body, albeit in very small quantities.

Arsenic is therefore a trace element. However, it is not clear what task it fulfills and exactly how it works in the body. However, before arsenic develops its toxic effect in higher doses, it has a slightly stimulating and uplifting effect. This is why the tradition of “arsenic eating” in the Alpine region began around the 18th century.

The dose of the remedies with Schüssler salts is naturally far below this stimulating, not to mention the poisonous effect, since the strong dilution means that there are few to no molecules in the remedies. In alternative medicine one also speaks of “energetic remedies”, since they do not work by supplying biochemical substances, but by passing on the information of these molecules. In the case of this Schuessler salt this is therefore a strengthening and stabilizing effect.

Potassium arsenicosum has an effect on the whole body, but especially on skin and mucous membranes of all kinds. This includes the mucous membranes of the mouth and nose area as well as the gastrointestinal tract. The conjunctiva of the eye is also among the sites of action of potassium arsenicosum.

The salt is able to soothe inflammations of the mucous membranes and can also have a balancing effect on the sweat glands of the skin. Potassium arsenicosum can also have an effect on the hormone balance, especially the comparatively complex hormone cycles of the female reproductive organs. Like all Schüssler salts, potassium arsenicosum also has an effect on the psyche and the nervous system. Here it can have a slightly stimulating and mood-lifting effect.
