Medicines for children against flatulence

Especially with small babies, flatulence often occurs, especially when changing food. Many babies, but also bigger children have to fight with flatulence, which makes their life more difficult. For children there are not quite as many drugs that are approved for the treatment of flatulence, or that also effectively relieve the symptoms.

One drug that is readily administered is Lefax®. Depending on the age, the correct dosage must be ensured. Lefax® is used in cases of excessive gas accumulation in the gastrointestinal tract.

It relieves flatulence and cancels any additional feeling of tension or fullness. It is also often used for the symptomatic treatment of so-called 3-month colic in infants. It is also helpful in the preparation of ultrasound examinations, which can be considerably more difficult in the case of flatulence due to the massive accumulation of gas in the abdomen.

Sab Simplex® is a further remedy for flatulence and a feeling of fullness. It can be administered in the form of droplets at or after meals. Especially for small babies, it is very elegant to use by pouring it directly into the vial. It facilitates the digestion of the milk formula and reduces the formation of foam and gas in the stomach and intestinal tract.

Medicines for children against abdominal pain

Abdominal pain is particularly common in children. In small children especially often in the form of cramps and flatulence or as part of an infection. In older children, however, abdominal pain can also indicate a more serious illness. If abdominal pain occurs in children under six years of age and lasts longer than one or two days, a doctor should be consulted in any case and further diagnosis should be made if necessary.

In acute cases, the children can be treated well with a painkiller such as paracetamol. To effectively relieve severe, newly occurring cramps, Buscopan® dragees can be used for children over 6 years of age. Buscopan relaxes the cramped intestinal walls.

It causes a reduction in the intestinal muscles and thus leads to a state of relaxation. Another remedy that can be used well in connection with abdominal pain is a herbal remedy called Iberogast®. Iberogast calms the stomach and intestinal nerves, leads to a relaxation of the muscles and regulates to a certain extent the mobility of the intestinal loops.

In the case of particularly severe cramps and if the patient does not respond to mild painkillers, Novalgin® can also be administered via the vein during a stay in hospital. It not only effectively relieves the pain, but also has a soothing effect on the cramps. Nevertheless, Novalgin should not be used in the long term and should only be administered in special cases.
