Medicines for warts

Many patients have a wart once or several times in their life. Depending on where it is located, this can be very painful or simply aesthetically unattractive. Other patients, however, live with their warts for a lifetime without being bothered by them.

However, if you consider a wart to be a skin disease, you will also find medication against the skin disease. On the one hand, there are high-dose salicylic and lactic acid tinctures, which can be bought without a prescription in the pharmacy, as well as various wart patches, which can also be bought without a prescription in the pharmacy. However, it is important that the wart has been assessed by a dermatologist to determine whether it is a benign growth (as is usually the case). Tablets as drugs against the skin disease do not exist in this sense, because the patches and tinctures help best and in more difficult cases an icing of the wart or an operation can be performed by a dermatologist.

Medicines for nail/foot fungus

Especially patients who like to go to the swimming pool often suffer from a nail fungus or athlete’s foot infection (Tinea pedis).Since this can be very annoying and painful, there are various medications available for the skin disease. These drugs against skin diseases caused by fungi are called antimycotics, i.e. anti-fungal drugs. Mostly nail or athlete’s foot diseases are treated with an ointment or a tincture, but there are also different tablets as drugs against the skin disease.

These are also called antimycotics. However, these tablets are usually only taken when the fungal infection spreads further and does not only affect the nail. Neurodermatitis is a skin disease that affects many patients.

Some patients have the mild form, which only breaks out under great stress, while others have a more severe form of neurodermatitis, which can only be brought under control with medication against the skin disease. In addition to a constant care of the skin with a pH-neutral washing lotion and a lotion that is especially suitable for patients with neurodermatitis, there are also drugs against the disease that can be used especially in an acute flare. Tablets that can be used as medication against the skin disease are antihistamines.

These can help the patient to suppress the itching and minimize the inflammation. Probably the most common medications for the skin disease are glucocorticosteroids, the so-called cortisone preparations. They are usually applied in the form of creams or lotions, but there are also tablets that can be used especially in an acute episode of neurodermatitis and thus have an anti-inflammatory effect. Calcineurin inhibitors such as Pimecrolimus and Tacrolimus can also be used as drugs against the skin disease. Despite all the drugs against the skin disease, it is important to know that atopic dermatitis is a skin disease that will never heal completely but where the symptoms can only be alleviated.
