Meditonsin® is a homeopathic remedy for colds. It is available in pharmacies, but not on prescription, and is therefore available over the counter. Meditonsin® is a homeopathic tri-complex of the three natural, complementary active ingredients: Aconitinum, Atropinum sulfuricum and Mercurius cyanatus.
Mode of action
Meditonsin® contains the three active ingredients listed above. Each of them has its effect on the body:
- Aconitium is used to treat highly acute inflammation associated with a sudden and severe onset of disease.
- Atropinum sulfuricum D5 is the active ingredient that is said to help against feverish infections and acute inflammation with throat and swallowing difficulties and dry irritable cough.
- Mercurius cyanatus D8 has an alleviating effect on inflammatory processes of the pharynx, larynx and sinuses, which are associated with the onset of suppuration and swelling of the lymph nodes.
Dosage
Meditonsin® should be taken as drops undiluted and independent of meals. It is best to start taking the medicine at the first signs of a cold. If there is no improvement after more than a week, you should consult a doctor.
Adults and children over twelve years of age can take five drops up to six times a day. Children under twelve to six years of age may take one or two drops six times a day. Infants and children under one year of age should consult a doctor. The maximum dose for infants is four drops of one drop and for children over one year of age six drops of Meditonsin®.

Contraindications
As with other medicines, Meditonsin® has contraindications, which makes it impossible to take Meditonsin®: hypersensitivity to Meditonsin® or other components of the homeopathic remedy and if you suffer from alcohol addiction. Meditonsin® drops contain 6 % alcohol by volume.
