Meglumine or -methyl-D-glucamine (C7H17NO5, Mr = 195.2 g/mol) exists as a white crystalline powder that is readily soluble in water. It carries an amino group which is protonatable.
Fields of application
Some contrast agents exist as meglumine salts. In this case, meglumine serves as an organic salt former.
