As a rule, the diagnosis of dysmenorrhea is made by history and physical examination.
Optional medical device diagnostics-depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics, and obligatory medical device diagnostics-are used for differential diagnostic clarification
- Vaginal sonography (ultrasound using an ultrasound probe inserted into the vagina (vagina)) – if necessary, detection of endometriosis of the adnexa (fallopian tubes and ovaries).
- Abdominal sonography (ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs) – for basic diagnostics.
- Hysteroscopy
- Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen (abdominal CT) – to exclude organic causes.
- Magnetic resonance imaging of the abdomen (abdominal MRI) – to exclude organic causes.
- Laparoscopy – if endometriosis is suspected.
