Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of metabolic (metabolic-related) alkalosis.

Family history

  • Are there any hereditary diseases in your family?

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic medical history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Have you noticed any sensory disturbances?
  • Have you noticed any muscle spasms?
  • Have you noticed any cardiac arrhythmias?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you eat a lot of licorice?
  • Do you chew tobacco?
  • Do you consume a lot of milk or calcium, respectively?

Self anamnesis incl. medication anamnesis

  • Pre-existing conditions (vomiting; metabolic disorders).
  • Operations
  • Allergies
