Therapy recommendations
- Therapy for minimal-change glomerulonephritis is still empiric.
- Use of glucocorticoids (first-line therapy); at least 4 weeks after achieving remission (temporal or permanent remission of disease symptoms), but for a maximum of 16 weeks.
- Therapy in steroid-resistant cases or frequent relapses – after confirmation by re-biopsy (re-taking of a tissue sample):
- Immunosuppressants: calcineurin inhibitors (this also in contraindications/counterindications to glucocorticoids or intolerance of glucocorticoids).
