Miscellaneous

A special form of urinary incontinence that mainly affects children between 5 and 7 years of age is the so-called laughing incontinence. When laughing, the bladder empties involuntarily and completely. The cause of laughter incontinence is not conclusively clarified. However, the therapy is not very different from that of other forms of incontinence: Pelvic floor training and drug treatment are also the cornerstones of the therapy here. The drug used is methylphenidate, which is known to the general public mainly under its trade name “Ritalin“, and was actually launched to combat attention deficit syndrome (ADS).
