Mobilat

Definition

Mobilat® is a drug which is available in pharmacies in the form of an ointment or gel. It is used to treat acute pain or swelling. The Mobilat® ointment contains flufenamic acid as the active ingredient.

This active ingredient belongs to the group of so-called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, also known as NSAIDs for short, so it is an analgesic. It serves both to inhibit inflammation and to relieve pain. The Mobilat® gel, on the other hand, is a combination of two different active ingredients, chondroitin polysulfate and salicylic acid.

Like the Mobilat® ointment, the Mobilat® gel serves to inhibit inflammation and relieve existing pain. Mobilat® Ointment is used in particular for the symptomatic treatment of pain in inflammatory diseases such as tendovaginitis. Mobilat® gel is mainly used for the local treatment of blunt traumas such as those caused by sports injuries.

These include strains and contusions. When using Mobilat® ointment and Mobilat® gel it should be noted that it should either be taken according to the instructions of a doctor or pharmacist or as recommended in the relevant technical information/package insert. Usually the Mobilat® ointment or gel is applied to the diseased area three times a day.

It is important that the area to be treated should not be larger than 30×30 cm, otherwise not only local side effects may be expected, but possibly also so-called systemic effects. These can possibly arise if the absorption area over which the active ingredient can be absorbed becomes too large. Both the Mobilat® gel and the ointment are only suitable for external application to the skin.

Mobilat® Gel is a clear, colorless gel. It is available in three different sizes from pharmacies. There are 50 gram, 100 gram and 150 gram tubes.

The Mobilat® ointment has a whitish to slightly green color. It is likewise available in the three sizes mentioned before in the pharmacy. Under no circumstances may both medicines be taken orally.

The ointment or gel should be applied thinly to the painful area and then gently massaged in. After applying the Mobilat® ointment and Mobilat® gel it is recommended to let the ointment or gel dry in the air. The treatment with Mobilat® ointment should not be applied for more than two weeks.

Treatment with Mobilat® gel should not be continued for more than eleven days. If the symptoms persist or worsen, a physician should be consulted to discuss further possible procedures. Further diagnostic measures may also be required to rule out more serious injuries.
