Ms | Cramps in the lower abdomen

Ms

As already mentioned, the symptom of abdominal cramps is much more common in women. Women are more likely to suffer from irritable bowel syndrome in particular. It is said that about 2/3 of women suffer from RDS. It is possible that stress is often at the root of this condition, due to the multiple strain that many women experience. In women, it is always necessary to consider diseases of the fallopian tubes, ovaries and uterus if the patient complains of pain in the abdominal cavity.

Man

Abdominal cramps are generally less common in men than in women. This is possibly due to the multiple strains that many women experience and the associated gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome.

Pregnancy

Since during a pregnancy much in the body of the mother changes, it often comes to belly pain in the abdomen. Mostly it is constipation due to the hormonal changes. At the beginning of pregnancy, abdominal pain can be an indication that the fertilized egg is implanting in the uterus.

Cramps in the lower abdomen are also often normal in a later phase of pregnancy, provided they occur alone and with no other symptoms. The body must get used to the growing child and adjust to the increasing strain on the muscles, tendons and veins. This form of abdominal pain is called “stretching pain“.

In addition, many expectant mothers complain of often great pain when the baby starts to move and kick against the abdominal wall. Nevertheless, caution is always required and one should observe the symptoms carefully, because even in a pregnant woman, cramps in the lower abdomen can indicate a urinary tract infection, intestinal diseases or diseases of the genitals. Only the doctor can make a reliable diagnosis.
