Introduction
Multilind® is a product for application on the skin, which is available in different versions and is distributed by STADA. Ointments as well as sprays and lotions and creams are available. All products are for application on the skin and are intended to help heal inflammation or infection of the skin.
The active ingredients of the individual products differ to some extent, which is why the different products should be used for different skin problems. The focus of Multilind® products is on the treatment of so-called diaper dermatitis and the symptoms of neurodermatitis. The products are not only used for acute treatment, but regular use is recommended to prevent irritation and infection of the skin. Multilind® is available in pharmacies and does not require a doctor’s prescription.
Indications
Since several products are sold under the name Multilind®, but the active ingredients differ to some extent, there are different indications for the use of Multilind®. Particularly frequent indications for the ointments and sprays containing the active ingredient nystatin and zinc oxide are so-called diaper dermatitis or other irritations and infections of the skin. Multilind® can also be used to treat sore spots on the skin, such as those frequently found in skin folds. The symptoms of neurodermatitis, also known as atopic eczema, can also be treated well with Multilind® products. Products containing the active ingredient microsilver are usually used for this purpose.
Effect
Multilind® combines products that can be used for diseases and irritations of the skin. The active ingredients contained in the products can be used to care for the skin in general as well as to treat specific diseases. Nystatin, which is contained in the healing ointment and the spray, is an active ingredient that can achieve good results with yeast infections.
The microsilver components in the products have an antibacterial effect. In neurodermatitis, the microsilver additives can help to minimize bacterial colonization of the skin. In addition, the often very dry skin at neurodermatitis can be cared for and the skin condition improved by regular use.
Other active ingredients in the products achieve an anti-inflammatory effect. Care with Multilind® can soothe itchy skin areas and alleviate painful and cracked skin. In addition to acute application of the products, regular use can help to permanently improve the condition of the skin.
Some Multilind® products contain microsilver as an active ingredient. Both Multilind® Lotion and Multilind® Cream contain microsilver. Silver has an antibacterial property, which is used in these care products.
It has been found that people suffering from neurodermatitis have a different bacterial composition on the skin. The colonization and reproduction of these bacteria should be prevented with the lotion or cream and thus a better skin condition for persons with neurodermatitis should be achieved. In addition to the microsilver components contained, the other active ingredients in Multilind® products can provide good treatment for the often dry and irritated skin of neurodermatitis patients.
The evening primrose oil contained in the cream is also ideal for sensitive skin to achieve a refattening effect and keep the skin supple even after the cream has been absorbed. Multilind® products are therefore well suited for the skin care of neurodermatitis patients. It is recommended to apply the lotion or cream once or twice a day, but only thinly on the affected skin areas.
Depending on whether the skin is very dry and irritated or only moderately dry, either the cream or lotion can be used. The pharmacy staff as well as the treating dermatologist can best assess whether treatment with the cream or lotion is appropriate in the long term in the individual case. Nystatin is an active ingredient which is effective against certain fungi and is therefore also called an antimycotic.
Multilind® Healing Ointment contains Nystatin and is therefore particularly suitable for the treatment of skin infections caused by these fungi. Red and sore as well as scaly skin areas can be an indication that an infection with a fungus is present. Already after a few days after application with Multilind® Healing Ointment containing the active ingredient Nystatin, an improvement of the affected skin areas can be achieved.The most important thing is to use the healing ointment regularly. Yeast fungus often occurs in children and can develop in the intimate area through the diaper as well as on the scalp and neck. In adulthood, the so-called seborrhoeic eczema, which manifests itself through scaly, inflammatory skin and is also caused by the yeast fungus, can be treated very well with Nystatin.
