Multiple Joints Pain (Polyarthropathy)

Polyarthropathy (ICD-10 M05-M14: Inflammatory polyarthropathies; M25.5: Joint pain) refers to joint disease of multiple joints. If an arthritis (joint inflammation) affects two to four joints, it is called oligoarthritis; if five or more joints are affected, it is called polyarthritis.

Polyarthropathy with pain can be a symptom of many diseases (see under “Differential diagnoses”).

The majority of patients consult the physician because of persistent discomfort/pain.

Course and prognosis: Course and prognosis depend on the cause of the disease. Rapid detection of the cause is important for therapy and prognosis.
