Muscle Twitching (Fasciculations): Diagnostic Tests

Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics, and obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Electromyography (EMG; measurement of electrical muscle activity).
  • Electroneurography (ENG; method of electrodiagnostics in neurology to determine the functional state of a peripheral nerve).
  • Cervical spine diagnostics
    • X-ray of the cervical spine.
    • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the cervical spine (cervical spine MRI) – particularly well suited for imaging soft tissue injuries [standard examination].
    • Computed tomography (CT) of the cervical spine (cervical spine CT) – for suspected disc prolapse (herniated disc), degeneration, narrowing of the plexus.

Other indications:

  • In the presence of cramps and spasms of the musculature: see below “Cramps and spasms of the musculature/medical device diagnostics“.
  • In the presence of tremor (tremor): see below “Tremor/Medical Device Diagnostics”.
