Muscle Twitching (Fasciculations): Test and Diagnosis

2nd order laboratory parameters – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.

* Wg. Tetany (neuromuscular hyperexcitability with painful muscle spasms): rarely hypocalcemia (calcium deficiency) with blood Ca < 2.25 mmol/l = < 9 mg/dl = < 4.5 mval/l, usually normocalcemic forms of tetany are present.

Additional notes:

  • In the presence of cramps and spasms of the musculature: see below “Cramps and spasms of the musculature/laboratory diagnostics”
  • In the presence of tremor (tremor): see below “Tremor/Laboratory Diagnostics.”
