Neck Knot

A neck lump (ICD-10-GM R22.1: Localized swelling, mass, and nodule of the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the neck) can have many different causes. It can range from barely palpable to tennis ball-sized, easily movable or immovable, soft or hard.

A neck lump can be a symptom of many diseases (see under “Differential diagnoses”).

Course and prognosis: In the majority of cases, a neck lump is benign (benign). However, it can also be malignant (malignant) in rare cases. Medical evaluation is therefore required, especially if the lump persists for a long period of time and/or is painful.
