Odontogenic Tumors: Medical History

In addition to the diagnostic findings, the medical history represents an important component in the diagnosis of odontogenic tumors.

Family history

  • Are there any common diseases in your family?

Current medical history / systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What complaints do you have?
  • Where are the complaints localized?
  • Difficulty swallowing?
  • Do you observe any swelling? Where?
  • Do you have a toothache? Where?
  • In addition, do you have any pain other than toothache? Where?
  • Do you have any functional limitations?
  • Do you observe tooth migration?
  • Has your occlusion (chewing closure of the teeth) changed?
  • Do you observe any changes in the mucosa and/or gums?
  • How long have these changes existed?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Has there been any change in your appetite? [malignant tumor disease]

Self history including medication history.

  • Pre-existing conditions [impacted / impacted teeth].
  • Nasopharyngeal problems (adenoids)
