Oil Baths

An oil bath is an ordinary water bath with the addition of soap-free oil.

Oil baths are important in the treatment of dry skin (xeroderma).

A distinction is made between spreading and emulsion oil baths. Spreading oil baths (spreading oil baths) cover the skin with a film after the bath, grease particularly well, but cleanse only slightly. Emulsion oil baths with a low surfactant content (solubilizers) are particularly suitable, as they clean better but are less greasy. Spreading and emulsion oil baths are also suitable for showering by spreading them on damp skin. Emulsion oil baths should be removed with water; spreading oil baths can be left on the skin without showering. You can perfume bath oils and shower gels with essential oils according to your own taste. To do this, you will need a measuring cup, your bath oil or shower gel, and an essential oil of your choice.
