Characteristic of oily skin is a shiny oily face and very quickly greasy hair.Other typical symptoms of oily skin are:
- Blackheads (comedones), inflammatory blackheads (folliculitis), and seborrheic eczema. The cause of seborrheic eczema is a proliferation of certain fungi (Pityrosporum ovale) in sebaceous gland-rich, oily skin regions. Common acne (acne vulgaris) is also always associated with oily skin.
- With oily skin, there is a widening of the skin pores and thickening of the horny layer (hyperkeratosis). As a result, the outermost layers of the skin are strengthened and the pores become larger.
- Clogging of the sebaceous gland pores especially in the area of the forehead, nose and chin (T-zone), décolleté, shoulders and back.
