Ointments and creams for treatments during pregnancy

In principle, the same creams and ointments can be used during pregnancy as before the pregnancy. However, it should be noted which active ingredients are contained. For example, highly concentrated cortisone ointments or creams should be avoided.

The dosage of all creams or ointments should be rather smaller and if the symptoms do not improve, the dose should be slowly increased. It should not be forgotten that a certain amount of the active substance of the ointment or cream also passes into the blood and thus has the same effect as a tablet with this active substance that would have been taken. In case of itching or skin rashes caused by allergies, gels or creams with Fenistil, an anti-allergic agent, are often used during pregnancy. Low-dose cortisone preparations can also be used if, for example, eczema is involved or if the pregnant woman is affected by neurodermatitis.

Ointments and creams for baby treatments

For babies and small children, ointments and creams containing cortisone should either be avoided completely or used only in exceptional cases. Fenistilgel can be used for allergic reactions and is usually very effective. In case of inflammatory changes of the skin in babies, such as napkin dermatitis, skin ointments and pastes containing zinc should be used.

They ensure that the skin is kept dry and heals very quickly. If the skin of babies is irritated, a treatment with Bepanthen® can always be tried first. This wound and healing ointment is very gentle for both children and adults, protects the upper skin layer and helps the regeneration of the skin. An overdose is not possible, the application is therefore completely harmless.

Treatment of skin rash with Similasan

As with all homeopathic medicines, the effect is not clarified, the concentration of the active ingredient is so low that a proof is no longer possible. Side effects have not yet been described. Similasan ointments and creams are used in the treatment of itchy and allergic skin symptoms.
