Orange Series

The Orange series from the Blackroll manufacturers represents just one of the many variations of the popular Fascia foam rolls. It is rather difficult to gain an overview of the different products and their different, advantages and disadvantages, as there are no uniform comparative values regarding the degree of hardness of fascia rolls. However, the individual products of the Blackroll-Orange series can be assigned quite well to the respective needs.

The softest version (“Blackroll-Orange MED”) is mainly suitable for occasional, gentler massages, whereas the hardest version (“Blackroll-Orange PRO”) is mainly suitable for intensive exercises and competitive athletes. The “Blackroll-Orange Standard” on the other hand represents an ideal combination of both variants. Ultimately, however, it can be seen that the fascial rollers of the different manufacturers are very similar, so that they have approximately the same effectiveness when used within fascial training, while having the same shape and comparable degree of hardness.

Set

Fascial rollers exist in a wide variety of forms and degrees of hardness. Each of these has its own special area of application, be it for a selective massage, trigger point treatments or the loosening of large areas of fascia. In order to be able to train with blackrolls in the most versatile and targeted way possible, it is therefore recommended to purchase different versions of the foam rolls.

This can easily be done with fascia roller sets, which come in all conceivable combinations. Which Blackrolls should be chosen depends on the individual needs. The classic foam rolls, for example, can be used in many different ways, but are usually not able to reach the deep muscles. Massage balls are particularly suitable for this purpose, which are also ideal for trigger treatment. For a specific treatment of the spinal muscles, however, the so-called Duo- or Twin-Balls are recommended, as they offer a recess for the spinal column in contrast to the simple foam rolls, so that the spinal column is not unnecessarily strained.

Duoball

The DuoBall (also known as TwinBall) is a special version of the fascia rolls. As the name suggests, it is shaped like two balls connected to each other. This offers great advantages when treating some areas of the body.

Especially for the therapy of the spinal column muscles (paravertebral muscles) the Duoball is ideal, because its special shape offers a recess for the spinal column, so that it is not exposed to unnecessary and unhealthy strain. At the same time, the muscles that support the spine can be reached more easily, which can be associated with greater pain, especially at the beginning of the exercises, but also brings better results. However, when using the DuoBall, just as when using other Blackrolls, it should be noted that the lumbar spine should be avoided during back exercises.

The DuoBall is also very suitable for loosening the muscles and fascial training of the leg muscles. DuoBalls are offered in different sizes and partly also degrees of hardness, which, like other types of fascial rolls, have a different degree of efficiency in use. Our cervical spine is exposed to great stress in everyday life.

Particularly in a relaxed head position with a strongly flexed neck, as is typical for sedentary activities and the use of smartphones, it has to carry a load of up to 27 kg. This often results in painful tension in the neck muscles. Even though the fascial role at this point is not an adequate substitute for a healthy posture or strong neck muscles, it can provide relief by loosening hardenings.

Its application in the neck area is very simple. The Blackroll is simply placed in the neck and the head is then gently turned alternately to the right and left. The neck can also be rolled up and unrolled on the Blackroll without much pressure.

This can be done either standing or lying down. Ideally, the Fascial Roll should be positioned directly above any noticeable hardening. The most effective positioning is often directly above the base of the neck muscles on the skull, the linea nuchae. This is palpable in the form of several curved bony projections on the lower edge of the back of the skull. The exercise can be repeated about 10 times as needed and is ideally performed both in the morning and evening.
