General measures
- When ornithosis or psittacosis occurs, workers should wear protective clothing and mouth and nose protection
- If fever occurs in persons after contact with potentially infected animals, an appropriate examination of humans and animals should be initiated
- Contact persons of potentially infected persons do not need to take protective measures
- In case of a clustered occurrence of the infection, the health department must be informed
