Osteochondrosis of the Spine: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of osteochondrosis of the spine.

Family history

  • Is there a history of frequent bone/joint disease in your family?

Social history

  • What is your profession?

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • How long have the complaints existed?
  • Where is the pain localized? Do you radiate?
  • How severe is the pain? Have they changed in intensity?
  • Do they occur continuously or only sporadically (e.g., after certain movements)?
  • Are the complaints load-dependent?
  • Is the pain also present at rest?
  • Is there a start-up pain in the morning?
  • What improves the discomfort? What leads to increased pain?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Are you overweight? Please tell us your body weight (in kg) and height (in cm).
  • Do you exercise enough every day?

Self anamnesis incl. medication anamnesis

  • Pre-existing conditions (diseases of bones / joints).
