Other possible symptoms

Approximately 10-25% of patients develop itching, which can affect the skin of the entire body. The exact cause of this itching is not known. However, it is suspected that certain chemical substances are released by the degenerated cells, which irritate the sensitive nerves of the skin and thus trigger itching.

If the lymph gland cancer is already in an advanced stage, it can spread like all other types of cancer, i.e. form so-called metastases. In lymph gland cancer, the liver and spleen in particular are often affected and as a result, these organs can become extremely enlarged, which is known as hepatosplenomegaly. However, cancer cells can also settle in other lymph nodes and thus lymph gland cancer spreads to other lymph node stations in the body.

Unfortunately, very typical symptoms of Hodgkin’s lymphoma occur very rarely. These would include itching, which gets worse on contact with water, and pain in the affected lymph node after drinking alcohol.
