Other skin lightening cosmetics

A large number of the suppliers of cosmetic products also offer skin-lightening creams and soaps. These are not subject to prescription. They contain herbal ingredients and are freely available.

However, illegal products which contain hydroquinone, for example, must be distinguished from these. Hydroquinone must be prescribed by doctors. Until some time ago, hydroquinone-containing products were often found in so-called “Afro-Shops”. However, these are confiscated and traders have to pay fines.
