Paget’s Disease: Complications

The following are the most important diseases or complications that may be contributed to by Paget’s disease:

Cardiovascular system (I00-I99).

  • Aortic valve stenosis – narrowing of a heart valve.
  • Diffuse vascular calcifications
  • Heart failure (cardiac insufficiency)

Mouth, esophagus (esophagus), stomach, and intestines (K00-K67; K90-K93).

  • Tooth loss, tooth damage

Musculoskeletal system and connective tissue (M00-M99).

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Fractures (broken bones)
  • Spinal stenosis – narrowing of the spinal canal, possibly with compression of the spinal cord.

Neoplasms – tumor diseases (C00-D48).

  • Benign changes in the area of the affected bone.
  • Malignant degeneration of the affected bone
  • Osteosarcoma (malignant (malignant) bone tumor).

Ears – mastoid process (H60-H95)

  • Hearing loss (stiffening of the ossicles, overgrowth of the cochlea/cochlea or crushing of the auditory nerve).

Psyche – nervous system (F00-F99; G00-G99).

  • Neurological deficits, unspecified

Symptoms and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings not elsewhere classified (R00-R99)

  • Chronic pain
  • Gait disturbances, unspecified
  • Headache
  • Back pain
