Pain after jogging at the ischial tuberosity

After jogging – especially when the muscles and tendons are overexerted – pain occurs when the ischial tuberosities are involved, especially in the lower buttocks and back of the thighs. The pain is then also usually felt at rest and when sitting down. This is usually caused by an inflammation of the bursa in the area of the ischium.

The patient should be immobilized for several days to weeks. In any case, the pain should no longer be felt before resuming sporting activity. Of course, sore muscles can also cause pain in the area of the ischium and when sitting and getting up from a sitting position. This disappears again within a few days and is not worrying.
