Pain in the night
If pain occurs mainly at night, the cause is usually an unfavorable position of the person sleeping.On the one hand, chronic degenerative diseases such as the impingement syndrome or arthrosis described in the introduction can prevent you from finding a good sleeping position. Unusual sleeping positions can lead to compression of nerves, muscles and blood vessels of the upper arm and thus to nightly pain and even numbness of the upper extremity. Although the causes of nocturnal upper arm pain are usually harmless, in rare cases a tumor disease may also be behind the phenomenon.
The so-called osteoid osteoma, a benign tumor of the bone, often manifests itself through its characteristic nocturnal pain, which responds well to Aspirin®. A medical examination can help to prevent the progression of the disease.
