Pain through teeth

Babies usually teethe at very different times. In general, the first tooth erupt at about six months of age. So many babies who are breastfed already have teeth without biting the mother.

Biting during breastfeeding can have various causes. For example, your baby may want to bite on something to reduce the pain in the jaw when teething. In this case, a teething ring can help before or after breastfeeding.

Reduced milk production can also encourage the baby to bite. In this case you can try to stimulate the milk flow before breastfeeding. The mother’s crying in pain can arouse curiosity in the baby and make it bite again to see if she can trigger this reaction again.

Some children also bite when they fall asleep. If this is the case, the baby should be removed from the breast before dozing off. Biting can also be caused by boredom in older babies.
