Pain with internal varicose veins?

Most of the blood flowing back to the heart is transported via the deep-lying venous system (approx. 80%). A malfunction in the deep vein system is therefore associated with more severe symptoms and a higher risk of complications.

In contrast to the superficial veins, which have lost their function, the deep veins are not called varicose veins, but venous insufficiency (venous deficit). However, the mechanism is the same. With internal or deep varicose veins, as with superficial ones, a feeling of pressure, swelling, heaviness and often a slight discoloration of the leg is experienced.

The latter is usually more pronounced in the inner vessels than in the outer ones. Furthermore, the constant pressure in the legs can lead to the development of ulcers or so-called “ulcers”. In medicine, an ulcer describes a type of deep, extensive wound which, in the case of venous insufficiency, is caused by the fact that the blood is no longer being properly drained. As a result, the oxygen supply to this area is no longer optimally guaranteed. As a rule, however, varicose veins are already conspicuously treated by the doctor in the first stage due to swelling and a feeling of pressure.

Pain in the pubic area due to varicose veins

Varicose veins in the groin region occur particularly frequently in pregnant women and usually disappear again after the birth. Permanent varicose veins in the groin are less frequent and can be caused by advanced venous insufficiency in the legs. In cases of severe itching or pain, cooling compresses, compression stockings, ointments and plenty of exercise can help.

Varicose vein pain after surgery

Pain in varicose veins after surgery is a very common problem. The reason for the increased occurrence of complaints after surgical operations is that the patient lies down a lot and does not move enough. The removal of blood from the legs is mainly made possible by the so-called muscle pump.

The blood is pumped upwards by the tension of the surrounding muscles. However, since it is usually not possible to get up and walk early after an operation, there is an increased blood congestion in the legs. This increases the typical symptoms of varicose veins.
