Pancreatic Insufficiency: Diagnostic Tests

Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnosticsand obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Abdominal ultrasonography (ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs) – for basic diagnostics.
  • Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen (abdominal CT) – to exclude malignant (malignant) diseases or complicating courses.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (abdominal MRI) – to exclude malignant diseases or complicating courses.
  • ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreaticography; diagnostic method combining the procedures of a mirror and radiology; for imaging the bile ducts, gallbladder and pancreatic duct) – during interventions (in surgical procedures).
  • MRCP (magnetic resonance cholangiopancreaticography) – to visualize the bile ducts (means of choice).
  • Endosonographic examination of the pancreas (examination similar to gastroscopy (gastroscopy), in which a tube is inserted with an ultrasound probe that transmits ultrasound images from inside the body)
