The pectoralis muscle is located on the inside of the thigh and consists of a four-sided, long muscle plate. Of all adductors, it is the one that lies furthest up. Other adductors of the thigh:

  • Long femoral adductor (M. adductor longus)
  • Short femoral adductor (M. adductor brevis)
  • Large thigh extractor (M. adductor magnus)
  • Slender muscle (M. gracilis)

Approach, Origin, Innervation

Embouchure: Bony groin of the small rolling mound (Linea pectinea femoris) Origin: Innervation: N. femoralis and N. obturatorius

  • Pubic bone ridge (Pecten ossis pubis)
  • Pubic tuberosity (pubic tubercle)

The musculus pectineus (comb muscle) is trained in strength training through the following exercise:

  • Adductor machine

The following stretching exercises apply to these muscles: There are two ways to stretch the inner side of the thigh. The athlete stands in double shoulder width, foot tips point forward. The body weight is shifted to one side, so that the thigh of the side to be stretched is stretched approximately through.

The upper body should be kept as straight as possible. The second variation is done while sitting. The soles of both feet touch each other, while the knee joints are moved towards the floor.

Function

The function of the musculus pectineus is adduction (lateral approach to the body) in the hip joint. In addition, the pectinus muscle supports the external rotation.
