Penile Curvature (Penile Deviation): Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

The following symptoms and complaints may indicate penile deviation (penile curvature):

Leading symptom

  • Curvature of the penis (usually upward, but also downward or to one side; deviation greater than 45°, sometimes up to 90°).

Accompanying symptoms of induratio penis plastica

  • Hardening or nodules (coarse plaques) usually on the concave side of the penile deviation in the tunica albuginea (connective tissue sheath around the corpora cavernosa) of the erectile bodies
  • If necessary, pain and paresthesias (false sensations or insensations) [typical at the beginning of the disease; usually within 6 months spontaneous improvement].
  • If applicable, erectile dysfunction (ED; erectile dysfunction) [increasing frequency of disease as the disease progresses].
